Gone but not Forgotten, definitely not.

I was going to remind people about the next talk on the last Friday of the month when I realised that I hadn't mentioned the success of Andy Binks' talk on the 25th of April, it was a sell out, and not a chair to be had for this well researched and entertaining talk. It would have been enjoyed by anyone with an interest in the town and how it has changed over the last 150 years. Andy with the aid of photographs took us back to many areas of Swindon, there were at one time, two places where bananas were ripened for instance.
I took a variety of photographs, firstly Andy setting up:
 Then adjusting the focus:
Then doing a bit of a pose for a photo:
 Hanging about waiting to start:
Giving an idea of how many people were there:

And below Paul introducing Andy Binks.
The only thing he missed I think was how to become a member of the Swindon Society which I've now remedied.

The next talk is 'The Postbox Past and Future' by John Fell on the development of the postbox from its Victorian origins to the present day, including a display of four antique postboxes and leading into predictions on the future of the Royal Mail on Friday May 30th at 7.30pm. Tickets from the museum or by phoning the museum on 01793 466556
